Proposed Changes
1.) "Bloody Mess" mutation for all zombies at a cost of 10 DNA and unlocked Wave 1.
- Receiving more than 200 damage overkill will cause you to explode into gibs on death.
- This effect cannot occur more than once every 12 seconds.
- Antlions, Headcrabs, Fast Headcrabs, Wraiths, Bloated Zombies, Poison Headcrabs, and boss zombies do not
benefit from this effect.
2.) "Unholy Hunger" mutation for all zombies at a cost of 10 DNA and unlocked Wave 2.
- Getting a killing blow on a human will heal you for 75 HP.
- Meat gibs heal you for double the normal amount.
3.) "Tainted Meat" mutation for all zombies at a cost of 20 DNA and unlocked Wave 2.
- Changes the color of your meat gibs a shade of sickly green.
- Humans who run over the gibs consume them and suffer 2 Poison Damage per gib.
- All zombies, and humans who have the worth menu trait "Cannibalism," will instead heal from the gibs as normal.
- Does not effect the gibs created whenever an Antlion's nest is destroyed.
4.) Bloated Zombies will now always explode into meat gibs on death.
5.) Gibs will no longer happen randomly, instead only ever appearing from either the mutation "Bloody Mess," a Bloated Zombie's death, or when an Antlion's nest is destroyed.
Reasoning
Seeing a zombie suddenly explode into bits and pieces of gore in Zombie Survival always puts a smile on my face; however, I find that these instances happen few and far between due to the fact that they have seemingly no rhyme or reason as to why suddenly that zombie gibs!
With my suggestions, not only do I intend to further differentiate the Bloated Zombie as it's own unique class, but to streamline the process so that players can understand and enjoy this rarely seen mechanic more on their time on our servers.
While balancing healing in a game like this can be fickle to say the least, I'm sure that through trial and error we can settle on some numbers that seem more reasonable so that these features can be eventually added to the Mall of the Dead server.
My only concern would be that of Bonemesh. While healing would be more commonplace now for the zombie team, I feel as though his support wouldn't go unnoticed through providing armor and more frequent heals to the frontliners. If worst came to worst, I'd suggest that the Overactive Platelets mutation should change as well, either becoming apart of his default kit or by increasing how much armor can be provided in total.
But I'll just leave that to the people who probably know more about balancing this gamemode than me! 😄
